5am!!

At the beginning of lockdown I decided I wanted to come out of the other end a better person. I did not want to sit and watch TV, eating and drinking more then I should. I don’t drink alcohol anyway but Coke, Fanta and the like are great belly builders too!

I did an online NLP course, read some self help books and so on, and walked and ran A LOT

I’d also come across this thing called the “5am Club” some time ago, and decided to have a look at it. And fell in love with it! Amongst all the good stuff in there (which will take quite some time to embed as new habits etc) is the idea of doing a short block of intense exercise first thing in the morning

20 minutes getting sweaty at 5am!

Hard at first – oh yeah

But, it delivers on its promise. It wakens the body, gets the blood pumping, produces the internal happy hormones, and makes for a massively productive day. And another thing? I now watch barely any TV. Rather than spending an hour and a half from 9 or 10 pm slumped in front of the TV, I’m asleep, and when I wake early and exercise I’m full of energy, working on myself before everyone else is even up.

Maybe I’m at the extreme here, but I’ll tell you what, getting that head start has been a saviour over lockdown, and what I’ve done in that time has delivered tangible results in both my career and my health

If 5am is a little too early, why not try getting up just half an hour earlier and spending that time on yourself, in total peace and quiet before the distractions of the day kick in
