Do I have to be fit to come to bootcamp?
Simply – NO!
Many people who first come to bootcamp haven’t done any exercise in a very long time, or really any formal exercise at all. They’ve maybe done little or nothing since PE lessons at school.
Other people may be training for specific events and a have a level of fitness that they’re looking to improve on.
Turning up is what matters – nothing else! (Well, you’ll need to take part, not just turn up!)
Maybe you’re looking to lose weight. Maybe you’re looking for a bit of a social life. We all have our different reasons for coming to a bootcamp.
If you are already fit, then great, you’ll probably be able to push much, much harder to start with. For everyone, what you’ll find is that as you get fitter, you’ll want to push harder because you find it brings so many benefits. If you are a complete beginner, then it’s best to take it easy for the first few sessions. And very soon, within two or three weeks, you’ll start to notice a difference.
You’ll feel stronger, you’ll sleep better. Your clothes, maybe even in that time, will start to feel looser. And as soon as any or all of these start happening, you’ll find that you want to carry on. You will want to push yourself a bit further. You’ll want to keep feeling better. You’ll start feeling more confident and happier in yourself. And in no time at all, as so many people have told me “The question that we start with, ‘Do I have to be fit to come to bootcamp?’ becomes irrelevant”. A
Many people who have approached me with that kind of question say to me later on;
“Why was I so silly, I just wish I’d started sooner. I wish I had started earlier. I don’t know what I was worried about. I don’t know why I put it off for so long. But now that I’ve started I can’t wait to come back and to carry on”.
No, you don’t need to be fit. You just need to get there. And very, very soon you’ll still start realising just how much good it’s doing for you.
