Is bootcamp really for me?

If you like the outdoors, fresh air, the wind in your hair, the sun on your face then in the summer, outdoor boot camp is for you. If you’re happy to work out in the rain, sleet, wind, cold, frost and mud, then outdoor boot camp is also for you. If you like constant variety in your life where no one session is the same, then bootcamp is for you.

If you like working out and spending time with like-minded people who are happy to laugh in the face of adversity, who gel into a supportive and meaningful friendship group, then outdoor bootcamp is something for you.

If you shy away from getting hot and sweaty in the sun, or getting a frosty bum in the winter, soaked through by rain at any time of year and really dislike the wind, then outdoor bootcamp might be something that doesn’t appeal to you quite so much.

Over the years that I have been running boot camps, what you might call adverse weather conditions are actually pretty rare. It is actually unusual for us to get rained on (witness the summer of 2022). Recently, autumn and even winter workouts have become less and less cold and therefore to a certain extent, much more bearable for those who feel the cold more than others.

Outdoor boot camp provides fresh air, a fantastic natural environment, and all the associated benefits of being out and about without the restrictions of walls and mirrors, central heating and electric light and air conditioning. But it does have its drawbacks because for those of you who like these creature comforts, it does not have them!

What it does have is freedom fresh air and fun on tap.
