Running Clubs in Northampton
As an alternative to bootcamp, Running is probably one of the most affordable ways of getting and keeping fit there is. Just don a pair off trainers and of you go. Northampton offers some great running opportunities, whether it’s through organised Running Clubs, Free events, the now famous Northampton Half Marathon and Size 6 races, simply running the marked routes of Salcey Forest or looping round Pitsford Reservoir.
The Northamptonshire countryside offers some amazing routes, and there are plenty of footpaths criss-crossing the county that can be used as running routes.
I’ll put together a list of all the organised running events through the year in a separate post, but for now, let’s look at some of the clubs operating out of Northampton.
A quick Google search will throw up the main Running Clubs in Northampton, and these are as follows:

Northampton Road Runners
What the Club says about itself:
Not all running clubs are the same! We don’t use shouty coaches. We are normal people who love to do amazing things. From 5k to ultra running. Road, trail and countryside. Always running happy.

Based at the University of Northampton, Waterside Campus, University Drive, NN1 5PH, NRR is centrally located to be a focal point of runners across Northampton.

What the Club says about itself:
Wootton Road Runners is a community-based running and triathlon club. Based in Northamptonshire, with 300 members of mixed ages and abilities, we’re definitely a friendly bunch.
Running and competition is at the heart of what we do, but we’re so much more. Whether you’re a seasoned ultra-runner or triathlete, want to run your first marathon, improve your Park Run times, or just want to run with others at your pace to keep fit and healthy, we’re the club for you.

Parklands Jog and Run
What the Club says about itself:
Parklands Jog and Run is a mixed ability running fitness group. Our members range from complete beginners to top level club runners.
The group is part of Run England’s project to get the whole country active. All our sessions are designed to suit all ability levels.

Fordy Runs
What the Club says about itself:
Running does not have to be a lonely past time! Yes there is nothing better than getting up and going for a run to clear your head but there is something very special about meeting up with other #FORDYRUNNERS and going for a nice social run!
Our Northampton Runners Club is all about getting together and having fun! Social running and being ultra-inclusive is at the core of FORDY RUNS Running Club which is why our Northampton Runners Club is so popular!
We welcome all abilities at our weekly runs which are run at different paces to suit ALL abilities! Come along …. you will love it!

Of course, no running post could be complete without mention of Parkrun, of which there are currently four in and around Northampton.
What is Parkrun?
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you!
