What if I can’t do some of the exercises?

When you come to bootcamp or the indoor sessions with Queens Park fitness, it may well be that you or other people in the class are, for whatever reason, not able to perform some of the exercises. It may be due to previous injury. It may be that your body just isn’t used to moving in particular ways, or that upon trying an exercise you find that it is basically uncomfortable.

The way I run my sessions is that I will absolutely say that nothing is compulsory. You are here to get better in your own personal way, with your own personal targets, and obviously with your own mind and body. What I would say is that I will always attempt to adjust any exercise, make it simpler, make it less impactful, maybe reduce the range of movement, maybe reduce the intensity, all in order for you to be able to start to perform it.

Now, it may be that it’s just a nonstarter, and in such situations I will always offer alternatives that, as much as possible, will work the same muscles that the main exercise that I’ve set does. This also makes sure you don’t feel that you’re either missing out on something or as some people say, they feel that they feel as if they are detracting from the class, or not feeling as if they’re pulling their weight.

What I would say is that everybody has their own personal capabilities, preferences, and the like. As much as possible in a session, I will ensure that these factors are taken into account and everybody gets the most benefit possible.

To summarise, I will always look to adjust exercises in the most sympathetic way possible for you to continue to get the maximum benefit from the session you’re in.
